Prof. Ogunduyile made the appeal while delivering his welcome address on Wednesday, 21st June, 2017. He said it would not be a thing of joy for him and the entire University Community if OSUSTECH fails to meet up to the standard set by the National Universities Commission (NUC) during the forthcoming Resource Verification exercise. 'We are still looking up to the Ondo State Government for structures, as time goes on, we will have to keep in touch with you all for your assistance and also, assignments will be given to you, so as to educate and tell us all we need to do to achieve our aim, which is, putting a world class Faculty of Engineering in place,' he stressed. Also speaking at the occasion, Prof. Olujimi Folarin who is coordinating the proposed Faculty of Engineering, informed the visiting team that six Programmes had been lined up for the Faculty. According to him, the programmes include Petroleum and Gas Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. He pointed out that it was important to work with those who already had the experience and by so doing, sharing in their experiences. He therefore solicited for the support of the visiting team as the Institution was already in possession of some equipment donated for the proposed Faculty of Engineering. Shortly before the tour to check the facilities on ground, Prof. Fapetu Olorunisola who spoke on behalf of the visiting team, promised to guide the University's Management properly on what it needed to know and how to get it done whenever the need arose. BE PATIENT FOR NOW: VC URGES JOB SEEKING LANDOWNERS.

Prof. Sunday Roberts Ogunduyile.

The Vice-Chancellor of Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa, Prof. Sunday Roberts Ogunduyile has appealed to landowners seeking for employment in the university to bear with him for now.
The VC who resumed duty barely six months ago, told Community leaders of Igbodigo, Erinje, Ayeka and Igodan that he met an over-bloated staff on his resumption and could not add to that at the moment. Ogunduyile explained that there would be room for employment as soon as more faculties were put in place. He added that what he met on ground was not in consonance with the NUC guidelines that stipulates that only five non-academic staff can be employed for an academic staff. "As at today, we have only 55 academic staff and 400 non-academic which is contrary to what should be the case", the VC stressed. As a way of allaying the fears of the people, Ogunduyile disclosed that his administration had taken some giant strides by approaching the National Universities Commission with a view to approving a Faculty of Agriculture. He added that the University was also collaborating with the Federal University of Technology, Akure in its efforts to establish a Faculty of Engineering in OSUSTECH.

On other requests earlier made by the stakeholders at the meeting, Prof. Ogunduyile assured the gathering that his administration would look into such requests with a view to granting those that can be granted. Earlier, the Obagberume of Igbodigo, Oba J.E. Aiyeku (JP) in whose palace the meeting took place, called on the new VC to fashion out a more robust and closer relationship with traditional rulers of the host communities. Oba Aiyeku urged the VC to employ indigenes of the catchment area into key positions in the university and recognition of Committee members during festive periods like Christmas, Sallah and Provision of calendars. The royal father congratulated the VC on his appointment which he noted had been yielding positive results in the life of the nine-year old University. "Today we can see signboards of the University at strategic locations along the highways which has never been the case in the days of your predecessors", he noted. He prayed that OSUSTECH will witness rapid development during VC's tenure. Also responding to some comments made by other Committee members, the Acting Registrar, Mr. Felix Oladapo Akinnusi advised the people to encourage their youths to apply for jobs whenever such opportunities come up. According to him, people in the catchment area hardly applied for jobs in the University when such opportunities arose.
